Object Edit
Only available via
Object Desktop
Object Edit was originally designed to bridge the gap between Notepad (which can
only deal with files 64K or less in size) and WordPad (which is kind of overkill
for text files). However, we like to think that even in its 1.0 version, Object
Edit has done a bit more than bridge the gap -- we think it blows it away.
Have you ever double-clicked on a file to open it, only to get this message saying
Windows has no idea what program to open it with? Or tried to open a text file only
to wait while your word processor had to load, all to view a few lines of text?

With Object Edit, those worries are a thing of the past! Object Edit is a lightning-fast
replacement for the Notepad applet that is included with every copy of Windows.
Object Edit leaves Notepad in the dirt when it comes to features, functionality,
and editing files of any size (limited only by memory), and did we mention it's
fast!
On install, Object Edit gives you the option of associating it with all sorts of
standard file types as well as all those "unregistered" files that always seem to
cause so many problems. Object Edit has a full complement of features that you would
expect to see in an editor, including printing support, search and replace, menu
accelerator shortcuts (take that Notepad!), and a graphical toolbar for convenient
access to various commands. And, of course there's support for the right mouse button
in the editor to access all these functions as well. With Object Desktop's Object
Edit, there is no one way to do things. It's got enough options for everyone from
a computer newbie to an expert programmer to feel comfortable and productive!
If you are a programmer or even if you just like to edit your web pages by hand,
you'll also love the syntax highlighting in Object Edit which highlights keywords
in the document. You can even add new keywords and specify the colors used to alter
highlighting to your own personal style! If you're not a programmer, the next little
bit is going to make no sense, but Object Edit includes syntax highlighting support
for HTML, Java (1.1.2), C/C++, Pascal, header files, and many more! Plus, it's simple
to add your own!
